PSAT/NMSQT

The
PSAT/NMSQT is administered once in the fall each year at Churchill High School.  Students who choose to take the PSAT/NMSQT are automatically screened for the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.  (The PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 are not considered for entry.)

Approximately 16,000 of the 1.6 million entrants nationwide qualify for this prestigious honor, and they are invited to compete to become National Merit Finalists.  Students are only able to qualify as National Merit Semi-Finalists if they are juniors who have taken the official (optional) test.  We are proud to say that Churchill has had as many as seven finalists in any given year.

The PSAT/NMSQT administration date for the 2017-18 school year is Wednesday, October 11th, 2017.  Students may register for this exam in the Counseling Office (online registration is not available).  The registration fee for the 2017-18 school year is $21.  NOTE - All juniors will be taking a free practice SAT test on that day unless they opt to register for the PSAT/NMSQT in advance.  Also, October 11th is a scheduled half day for students due to parent/teacher conferences.  Students who choose to take the PSAT/NMSQT on the October 11th junior testing day will have to make arrangements for afternoon transportation since the official test will take more time than our half-day schedule will allow.

Upon registering, students should pick up the PSAT Student Guide in the Counseling Office.  The Student Guide will help students prepare for the PSAT.  At 7:20 on the morning of October 11th, students should report to his/her assigned testing room.  Students will get a verification notice with their assigned room and will receive a school business absence for the day.  Each student will be expected to report promptly at 7:20 or to notify our office of any cancellations in advance.  Students must bring a picture ID, two #2 pencils and a calculator.

The test fee is $21 and is payable through PaySchools (LINK).  Registration will close on Wednesday, September 13th.
